A lot of telescopes can be powered from batteries, but during the winter the cold and affect their performance and life often leading to a malfunctioning mount. If you spend more time doing astronomy at home it makes sense to make use of the mains power to run your telescope.
Baader’s 60W Outdoor Telescope Power (OTP) has been made for use outdoors. It features a water resistant (not waterproof) sealed housing and can operate in temperatures down to -25°C and up to 40°C. The unit has a safety protective-disconnect elbowed plug which is plugged into the mounts power input socket. If you trip on the cable, the cable will detach from the right angled plug so the cable and the telescope power port is not damaged.
The OTP continuously supplies up to 5 Amperes at a minimum of 12 Volts, so it is perfect for modern, powerful mounts like the Celestron Advanced VX and CPC, but it can be used with any mount having a Celestron-Standard receptor (2.1mm x 5.5mm), requiring up to 5 Amps. This 12v PSU is approved for use with Celestron telescopes in the UK without affecting telescope warranty.
The 60W OTP is available to buy direct from ourselves or from one of our authorised UK Baader dealers.
